Job Description

Commercial Loan Officer — St. Louis, Missouri (Community Bank)

Are you an experienced commercial lender who thrives on building deep relationships and structuring creative credit solutions? A well-capitalized, community-focused bank in St. Louis, MO, is seeking a Commercial Loan Officer to lead local business development and portfolio growth across the metro area.

This is a relationship-first role—not a cold-calling numbers game. You’ll meet face-to-face with business owners, understand their goals, and provide the financing they need to grow—serving clients from the City and County to St. Charles and surrounding communities.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and manage a high-quality portfolio of commercial loans

  • Identify new business through strategic calling, centers of influence, and community engagement (chambers, industry groups, civic orgs)

  • Analyze credit and financials to structure sound, competitive loan packages (C&I, owner-occupied CRE, and SBA where appropriate)

  • Maintain portfolio profitability, credit quality, and compliance benchmarks

  • Collaborate closely with credit analysts, support staff, and senior leadership

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of commercial lending experience within a community bank (St. Louis market experience strongly preferred)

  • Deep understanding of credit, financial statements, and business lending structures

  • Proven relationship-building, negotiation, and communication skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or related field—or equivalent experience

  • Familiarity with the St. Louis small-to-mid market economy (manufacturing, distribution, professional services, contractors, and healthcare practices)

Why Join This Bank?

  • Long-tenured team with a family-oriented, community-minded culture

  • Strong local reputation among business clients and referral partners

  • Competitive compensation, full benefits, and a meaningful incentive plan

  • Real autonomy and the ability to shape your portfolio and market strategy
