Tower Technician – Wireless Communications (Midwest Region)
A well-established provider of tower inspection, maintenance, and repair services is seeking motivated and safety-focused Tower Technicians to join their growing field team. This is a physically demanding role involving work on telecommunications and broadcast towers, including climbing to heights over 500 feet. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, works well with their hands, and thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
This is a travel-based position with projects primarily located throughout the Midwest. Comprehensive training is provided through certified third-party programs. Candidates must possess a strong work ethic, a valid driver’s license, and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
Key Responsibilities:
Climb and work on towers (100'–500’+) to install, maintain, and repair wireless communication systems.
Read and follow construction plans and scopes of work.
Install antennas, coaxial cable, lighting, mounts, and related equipment.
Perform inspections and troubleshooting on various tower types (self-supporting, guyed, monopoles, rooftop structures, etc.).
Maintain accurate safety logs and close-out documentation for each site.
Participate in jobsite clean-up and organization.
Travel extensively and work outdoors in varied conditions.
Operate company-provided vehicles to and from job sites.
Uphold OSHA, NATE, and company safety procedures at all times.
Keep tools and materials inventory organized and company vehicles maintained.
Participate in rescue training and field safety drills as required.
Requirements:
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Physically able to climb towers exceeding 500’ and lift 100+ lbs.
Willing and able to travel extensively (95%+), including overnight and weekends.
Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
Ability to read and interpret work orders, drawings, and engineering specifications.
Professional demeanor and adherence to safety protocols.
Preferred Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in tower climbing or related field work.
Authorized or Competent Climber certification (preferred).
Experience with rigging, basic hand tools, and jobsite safety documentation.
Knowledge of RF awareness, PPE use, job hazard analysis, and tower rescue procedures.
Familiarity with antenna and RF system installation and maintenance.
Work Conditions:
Outdoor, year-round work in extreme weather conditions (-20°F to 110°F).
Exposure to heights, tight spaces, and physically demanding tasks.
Frequent travel throughout the Midwest and occasionally nationwide.
