Job Description

The Director of Harvest will be responsible for executing all harvest operations for brassica crops. These crops include but are not limited to broccoli, cauliflower, and cabbage, both organic and conventional programs. This leadership role ensures product quality, labor performance, and operational efficiency while managing resources, equipment, and compliance. 

Heavy travel between Yuma, AZ and the Southern San Juaquin Valley will be required. The majority of required travel will be provided on the company jet.

Qualifications for consideration

  • Strong background in managing labor, equipment, and H-2A workforce compliance.
  • Proven ability to manage equipment performance and field logistics.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel seasonally between CA and AZ.
  • 5 to 7 years of proven leadership experience in vegetable harvesting, specifically with brassicas.
  • Strong knowledge of technology harvesting and troubleshooting.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee foremen and harvest crews, ensuring efficient labor deployment, safety, productivity, and compliance with H-2A and labor laws.
  • Monitor field conditions, cutting quality, and yield to minimize rejections and maximize product consistency and pack-out results.
  • Coordinate labor planning and monitor Cost Per Man Hour (CPMH). Identify and implement strategies for labor cost reduction and efficiency improvement.
  • Manage brassica harvest equipment across all sites. Ensure equipment is deployed effectively, maintained regularly, and used to maximize productivity and reduce downtime.
  • Ensure all harvesting equipment and tools are properly sanitized and field operations meet food safety and OSHA standards.
  • Collaborate with operations, grower relations, compliance, HR, and cooling to align field activities with overall business and customer needs.
  • Provide coaching and development to supervisors and foremen. Foster a culture of accountability, consistency, and continuous improvement.
  • Track key performance indicators, including CPMH, yield, crew performance, and equipment efficiency. Report insights to senior leadership.
  • This roll will require 30% to 50% of your time in the field.
