Job Description

A business and litigation law firm headquartered in Pittsburgh with six offices throughout Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, and New Jersey from which we serve clients in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

Their clients range from Fortune 200 and large privately-held companies to municipal entities, small businesses, and partnerships in a broad diversity of industries and business sectors. With each representation, our attorneys work to ensure that matters are addressed practically and efficiently, and in a manner best suited for that client.

The Pittsburgh office is seeking a highly motivated, experienced paralegal to work as an integral member of our Asbestos Litigation Group.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Managing the lifecycle of several hundred active matters/cases in primarily in Pennsylvania with backup support for West Virginia active matters/cases, including but

not limited to:

  • organization of new file folder and trial binders
  • tracking daily activity through email alerts
  • updating case files and trial lists
  • calendaring important filing deadlines
  • updating trial binders
  • preparing releases or dismissal orders as cases progress
  • Preparation of motions, pleadings, and documents such as: Motions for Summary Judgment, Discovery Requests to Plaintiffs, Motions in Limine, Deposition Designations, Summaries of Answers to Interrogatories, Fact Sheets
  • Preparing and submitting monthly and quarterly case reports at the requests of clients.
  • Logging and entering billable time to Prolaw billing system.
  • Electronic fillings in Allegheny County, Philadelphia County, and West Virginia.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • At least 5 years’ experience supporting attorneys in complex litigation.
  • Paralegal Certificate preferred.
  • Experience with both State and Federal courts, including knowledge of CM/ECF filing.
  • Strong attention to detail in all work.
  • Ability to manage multiple files and to prioritize workloads to effectively meet all deadlines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with all levels of management, staff, and clients.
  • Forward thinking, organized, and a team player.• Ability to independently solve problems and exercise sound judgment with minimal direction.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products – Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Experience with iManage & Prolaw a plus.
