Job Description

A well-established commercial general contractor is seeking an experienced Safety Director to lead and strengthen its company-wide safety program. This is a true leadership role with executive support and the authority to influence culture, policy, and field execution across multiple projects.

Position Overview

The Safety Director will oversee the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of safety programs for active commercial construction projects. This role goes beyond compliance and focuses on driving a proactive, accountability-based safety culture in partnership with company leadership and field teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage company-wide safety programs across multiple commercial projects

  • Develop and enhance safety policies, procedures, and training programs

  • Partner with executive leadership, project managers, and superintendents

  • Conduct jobsite audits, field observations, and risk assessments

  • Oversee OSHA compliance, incident investigations, and corrective actions

  • Analyze safety trends and implement continuous improvement initiatives

  • Serve as a mentor and resource to project and field leadership

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of construction safety experience, including leadership responsibility

  • Strong background in commercial construction (ground-up preferred)

  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and best practices

  • Proven ability to lead, influence, and communicate across all levels

Preferred Credentials

  • CSP, CHST, or similar safety certification

  • Experience supporting multiple active job sites
