$18.00 – $37.00 per hour + Health Plan, 401(k), Incentive, PTO

Truss Designer  / EWP Drafter 

Seeking a skilled EWP Drafter / Truss Designer to join a growing team supporting engineered wood products and truss projects for internal and external customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Produce design/drafting packages for Engineered Wood Products (EWP) and/or truss applications used for customer quotes, take-offs, and manufacturing.
  • Prepare working drawings, sketches, and graphs from blueprints, sketches, sales orders, and verbal/written instructions using CAD and related tools.
  • Prioritize and coordinate work to meet expedited/special requests; provide plans for customer sign-off and manage revisions.
  • Code and maintain drafting files for accurate retrieval and distribution to engineering, vendors, and facility teams.
  • Schedule truss and EWP deliveries and, as needed, provide technical consulting to distribution center customers.
  • Compile placement plans that convert conventional framing to BCI® joists via computer-aided systems.
  • Make occasional outside calls to lumberyards/job sites; may initiate telephone sales for EWP accessories (e.g., hangers).
  • Demonstrate strong commitment to safety, quality, environmental awareness, and continuous improvement; other duties as assigned.

COMPETENCIES / QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: College degree or equivalent experience in a related function; technical certification or associate degree preferred.
  • Technical: Working knowledge of CAD, blueprint reading, and drafting; familiarity with engineering terms/specs; structural/industry experience preferred.
  • Skills: Strong math, effective communication, attention to detail; thrives in an office production environment with clear safety practices.
