The Vice President of Operations is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing both operations and support teams across the company. This person will drive performance, improve coordination, and ensure alignment across departments. They’ll also own KPIs tied to safety, quality, productivity, and overall team success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee multi-site structural steel and miscellaneous metals fabrication operations, including Project Management and Estimating
- Work closely with support teams (Quality Control, Purchasing, IT, Equipment/Asset Management, and HR) to ensure everything is running efficiently and aligned
- Help connect the dots between fabrication shops, field installation teams, and project management to keep projects moving smoothly
- Establish and roll out consistent processes and best practices across all locations
- Keep a close eye on production schedules, installation timelines, and resource planning to make sure projects stay on track and within budget
- Play a role in executive-level planning and company growth initiatives alongside the President/CEO
- Lead regular operational reviews, track KPIs, and step in to address issues or bottlenecks as they come up
- Mentor and develop department managers and help build the next layer of leadership
- Support hiring, training, and retention efforts in partnership with HR and department heads
- Act as a bridge between field operations and corporate leadership to maintain consistency in execution and culture
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or similar (or equivalent experience)
- 10+ years of leadership experience in structural steel, miscellaneous metals, construction, or industrial operations
- Strong understanding of fabrication and erection processes, along with safety and project management practices
- Hands-on knowledge of structural and miscellaneous steel fabrication, equipment, and industry standards
- Proven ability to lead teams across multiple locations
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable working with performance metrics and KPIs
- Experience with ERP and scheduling tools (Microsoft Project, Tekla PowerFab, etc.)
